Autumn Colors Cake
Remember when I was saying "the cold weather isn't so bad"? Well... IT WAS A LIE. Yammies are not meant for sub-40º weather. Thusly, I have taken it upon myself to keep the fireplace stocked at all times. Luckily this is not a very physically demanding job as it consists mostly of ordering the guys to do it and giving encouragement when needed.
The other night as we were roasting our butts by the roaring fire, Dad was like, "Hey, did anybody feel a great disturbance in the Force today? As if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced?"
"Uh... I don't know. Maybe. Why?"
"Because, there was a whole colony of ants in a log I burned today. MWAHAHAHA!"
Well, the next day my ant-murdering father was too busy to make me a fire, so I decided I would get off my frozen butt and build one myself. It was the biggest, baddest fire you ever did see. I was like, "Dad! Like my fire?"
"Yeah, it's pretty good... for a woman."
BAH.
Anywho. Speaking of my old pops, yesterday was his birthday, and this is the cake I made for him. He requested a cake just like at our bakery in town, except he obviously wanted it to be gluten-free. Psh... piece of cake. You can check out my the recipe here on my gluten-free blog. I think it turned out pretty good, for a woman. Bam.
Nemo decorated it for me since I had to go to work the next day. You can see a video tutorial of Nemo making buttercream roses here. Aint they purty? I love how she did the colors. You are officially cooler than me, Nemo.
At this one thing. Just this one thing.
The acorns were probably the cutest part. All you need is peanut butter or butterscotch chips, chocolate chips, and sprinkles.Take a couple chocolate chips and melt them to use as glue. Then cut off the tips of some more chocolate chip so they're flat on the top. You can attach the chocolate and butterscotch chips with the melted chocolate or you can just kind of rub them into each other so they stick. If that makes sense. Then glue a brown sprinkle to the flattened top of the chocolate chip and voila! An acorn. Piglet would be ravenous.
Anyways, sorry for all the Star Wars and Pooh Bear references. Also sorry for never posting lately. I'm just having a crisis because my new hard drive for my lap top still isn't here and I hate using the ginormous family computer. Please forgive me.
